About me

I am a postdoctoral researcher interested in both print and material culture of children. My work lies at the crossroads of childhood studies, comics studies and cultural history. My prime research objects are comics, and children’s periodicals from the mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth centuries. I read Spanish, Italian, French, German and Dutch which allows for a comparative approach and a transnational scope.

My teaching consists of co-teaching the course "Comics and Graphic Novels" at the University of Ghent with my colleague Dr. Giorgio Busi Rizzi. I also work as a guest lecturer at LUCA School of Arts Brussels, where I co-teach "Comics History" a first-bachelor course taught to art students of comics, graphic design, photography, ....

Currently, I work as a FWO junior postdoc at the Universities of Ghent and Antwerp, under the supervision of Professors Maaheen Ahmed and Vanessa Joosen.

My PhD, Building a Glocalised Serial for Children (defense 29 Sep 2022), received the 2023 Dissertation Prize from the Comics Studies Society. Download the zine I made for this occasion.
